Our good friends at Beatnik Studios just opened their operation in a new event space, and we love it!  Located near downtown Sacramento, just south of mid-town in one of the newer hot, hip and happening areas of the city, Beatnik took over a historic all brick building that just happens to be on the Historic Registry, being built in 1913 and originally occupied Pacific Gas & Electric.  We love the industrial feel to this building, with fantastic brick interior walls and a 30’ high clear-story ceiling with skylight windows the full length of the room.  The natural daytime light coming through the skylight windows is marvelous and as evening moves from dusk to dark, the interior lighting is fantastic.  Strands of bistro lights adorn a portion of the room, as well as unique playful bicycle wheel and wire hanging lights give great interest in lighting.

Beatnik Studios is multifaceted in that it serves as a great space for any sort of social event, serious p-a-r-t-y, wedding ceremony and reception, or corporate meeting space. Beatnik hosts artist showings with gallery art rotating approximately two times a month.  With cleverly designed movable walls and easily pointed track lighting, the art makes for great décor for any event.  Additionally, Beatnik holds public events such as Final Friday, which is an art show and fun reception, and they also hold Third Thursday Jazz night providing great jazz concerts featuring the regions top musicians.

Beatnik has an urban, artsy feel with the character of an old friend.  The rustic brick walls, polished cement floors, and the open floor plan allows the client a diversity of seating and gathering options. Those moveable walls can make for interesting spaces within the space.

The option to bring in your own licensed caterer (great kitchen arrangements) and handling the purchase and serving of your wine and beer is all yours, or consider the use of a fun and trendy food truck company that can park with easy access to the door.

Beatnik has a few unique props for use, such as vintage doors, windows, antique Steinway piano (not operational), and a beautiful Baby Grand that is tuned and can be used for a wedding or other performances.  Beatnik Studios is a fantastic place if you are looking for that unique, non-traditional environment that offers flexible options.

Thank you for the photos presented by Vixen Vendor, photographer Carmen Salazar, and also by Beatnik owner and photographer Wes Davis.
