Whether a Sacramento local or looking for a unique destination wedding location, consider the lovely Courtyard D’Oro in historic Old Sacramento, California.  The area is full of sight-seeing opportunities, interesting buildings, walking tours, river boats, a train museum, underground tours, and horse & carriage rides.  Courtyard D’Oro is situated in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Old Sacramento and is part of the former hotel called What Cheer House, built in 1853 (what a perfect name for a former life!)  This venue has a romantic brick courtyard, full of old-world charm which is encompassed by wrought iron fencing, and is perfect for holding parties, a wedding ceremony, or evening dining.  The courtyard is reminiscent of the French Quarter in New Orleans, and has a focal three tiered fountain, decorative flower pots, a beautiful gated entrance (perfect for photo ops), and is framed by Trees of Heaven and tall vine-covered brick walls. We love the strands of market lights and can envision quite the celebration taking place on this courtyard patio.

Another wonderful feature of Courtyard D’Oro is the interior space with handsome cherry wood bar.  Options are a wonderful thing, in that you can utilize both spaces – dancing can take place inside, with dining al fresco, or vice a versa. If the weather is warm come inside to cool off, but really, with the Sacramento Delta breezes coming in off the Sacramento River, and the tall brick buildings surrounding the patio area, it’s not ever going to get super hot.   This property comes with very nice wrought iron tables and chairs for the courtyard and tables with shiny dark wood padded chairs for the interior space.  Event Architects, a full-service catering company, handles the in-house catering and will work with the client on any specialty rental needs, linen selections, and prepare a wonderful meal.  The Vixens attended one of Event Architect’s tastings and was blown away by the quality, flavors, variety, and complexity of their menu offerings.  Your guests will be very happy with their experience; we’re sure!  So, if you’re looking for a unique location, one full of history, ambiance, great food and charm, do consider Courtyard D’Oro.
