By far one of the prettiest venues we’ve seen in a while.  If you are looking for sophistication and elegance in “country style” then look no further than Field and Pond – this property truly showcases nature at its best.  Located in Yolo County, very near the bustling up-and-coming hamlet of Winters, it is a 45 minute drive West from Downtown Sacramento or a 1 ½ hour drive North from San Francisco. The country drive will delight when passing fields of sunflowers, walnut orchards, row crops or as we saw, a glorious onion field in full bloom, but then passing the row of photo-worthy metal granaries really got us excited!  One of the anchor architectural pieces at this venue is the gleaming white 1920’s California Craftsman Bungalow farmhouse with the “jewel box garden” in front (talk about curb appeal)!  A garden party, cocktail pre-social, or beautiful wedding can be held in this lovely space.

For those barn lovers, a perfect 100 year old California Barn is prominently positioned in the center of the property; inside, the addition of a stunning chandelier adds to the elegance. The owners appreciate the past history of the barn, but they also have “history in the making” by adding to the finishing touches steel from the construction of the new San Francisco Bay Bridge (the bar foot rail), and the Italian market lights fastened to rebar poles with small cannonballs as finials placed on top.  Very cool and interesting.  The Barn with its handsome built-in bar can seat 60 to 80 guests inside, or for larger groups, dine al fresco under the Italian market lights, enjoy the breezes, and then step inside the barn for dessert and dancing!  The barn is outlined in accent lighting which provides a lovely sight from anywhere on the grounds after the sun goes down.

Field and Pond is in a preserve and wildlife territory, and in the spirit of being eco-friendly, enjoy the lovely 2 acre pond by meandering on the dock past the cattails and reeds and watch the stocked fish jump. You might spot the sweet red-winged blackbirds that flit about singing their song.  Perfection!  We see this pond as another setting for a wedding, but just feet away is a magnificent Heritage Valley Oak tree calling for attention, as well as a nicely planned elongated ceremonial lawn at the bend of the flowing creek.  The views of the bucolic oak-dotted hillside is serene and ethereal.

For intimate winter weddings or socials consider utilizing the interior of the historic home and spill out onto the covered wide front porch.  The home is also set up for the bride and bridesmaids for dressing and the groomsmen quarters with pool table is a big plus.  Field and Pond allows outside catering (professional, licensed and insured).  As an additional add-on service, the management will also take care of obtaining tables, chairs, tabletop items and linens.

It was a delight to tour this wonderful property – so wonderful that we Vixens enjoyed a simple picnic lunch and dined with the owners while gazing at the serene beauty.  We thank Allison  of AllisonStahl Photography for accompanying us and taking so many pretty photos (a few images were supplied by the venue).
