Full Belly Farm is about a one hour drive Northwest from Sacramento in verdant Yolo County. The country roads offer stunning views of the fertile Capay Valley and on our recent spring trip, we were treated to all of the lush shades of green through the rolling hills and rich farmlands.

Owners Jenna and Amon had just held their once a year Open Farm Day which was hugely attended (people do love the country!). Even at the end of their long day the couple was warm and inviting and shared their story and that of the fully functioning and very active 450 acre organic farm. For all events, catering is in-house and personally prepared by Amon, Jenna and their staff.  Meals are totally created from the farm’s bounty… everything from peaches and plums and other stone fruit, to walnuts and almonds, tomatoes, squash, eggplant, chard, herbs and even their eggs.  They also raise farm animals like lamb, beef and pork.  Amon and Jenna designed an incredible commercial catering kitchen immediately off the event patio, which would make any gourmet cook envious.  Event meals are planned based on what is fresh and in season. They even grow their own flowers for the on-site floral business-Full Belly Florist.  The lavender fields would be pure Heaven when in bloom!

The beautiful home, designed and built by Jenna and Amon, is the centerpiece to the gathering area for social events, dinners and weddings. For brides needing to prepare and dress, there is a bridal changing room offered inside the house. The home is styled after a farm water tower and rustic farmhouse. It is surrounded by a fantastic patio that works well for dinner or dancing, and if you have a larger group, the adjacent grassy area will work well for tables, market umbrellas and the like.  The patio has strings of market lights that add that great glow to the evening.  And there is even a pizza oven steps off the patio.

Because of their wildly popular monthly Farm Dinner Series, they plan for no more than one wedding per weekend (certain weekends are available May through October). Weddings and events are completely outdoors and tents can be arranged if one should want to create shade or shelter. A wedding ceremony within the orchard is a possibility, with the dinner reception being on the patio and camping on site can be arranged after an event.

Full Belly Farm also participates in three farmers markets in the Bay Area and specialty farm products like preserves, tomato sauce, safflower oil and almond butter… even spun wool from their flock are available for purchase via their website.  What a great favor for your guests!

I don’t say farm to fork, I say Farm to Fabulous! So if you care about your carbon footprint and really care about where your food comes from, Full Belly Farm will spark your interest for sure!
