The beautiful Julia Morgan House is now available for private events and weddings and the Vixens are oh so happy!  It’s been years since this exquisite property has been available to the public for rental, so be sure to check it out when looking for a venue.  This gorgeous house was designed by famed architect Julia Morgan in 1918, finished in 1922.  It was commissioned by Lizzie Glide as a wedding gift to her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Glide & Charles Goethe.  The Mediterranean style mansion was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.  Check out their website for more information about Julia Morgan and the history.  Fun Fact: Julia Morgan also designed Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA!

And now, let’s start outside… the grounds are lovely and may be used in many ways as you can rent just portions of the venue or the entire estate for the day.  For larger events we encourage the guests to enter from the back gate onto the private patio of the estate.  The patio is anchored by a large fountain and works well as a welcome area, cocktailing spot or a ceremony space.   As we move beyond the patio through wisteria covered trellises, we enter the gardens.  The gardens are filled with colorful blooms, lush lawn and mature trees, which work perfectly as a wedding ceremony backdrop or an al fresco luncheon or dinner location.  Set the mood in the garden or on the patio with a lovely string trio, harp or guitarist, as no amplified sound is allowed outdoors.  A lovely pillared pergola is situation prominently along the edge of the lawn and will frame a wedding nicely.

And next, the fabulous home… the guests may enjoy wandering through the first floor, which includes the foyer (with some room for dancing later), dining room, living room and library, all designed with the utmost attention to detail and appointed with lovely antiques and furniture.  Be sure to admire all of the natural teak details in the doors, molding and decorative friezes.  Consider using the rooms on the first floor for your buffet table or dessert station and the enclosed sunroom works well for setting up the bar or to display your wedding cake.  Upstairs, the wedding party will have access before the event to the groom’s room and the bridal suite, which are very comfortable as dressing areas and lovely for photography.

The rear of the home has been reappointed and recently remodeled to include four handsome conference rooms with state of the art audio visual, large conference tables or desk style seating, all with comfortable chairs.  This is a great venue for a conference or meeting, and attendees can have their breaks and meals on the patio or in the gardens.  The entire house has the Sonos sound system which works well for background music. The full kitchen is also in the rear of the home, and used by the in house catering team.

Ohhhh, this place is a dream that must be seen to be appreciated.  This is truly a one-of-a-kind venue that you and your guests will fall in love with as we have.  Meagan Lucy Corrigan sure did capture all the prettiness through her photography – thank you!
