Monk Ranch in Dixon, CA, is a historic ranch sitting on 160 pastoral acres. The family established the ranch in 1876 and now the current owners are the 5th generation living on the property. It is a working farm surrounded by almond orchards; a hidden gem on the Solano County country roads, yet just a short drive to several hotels options in nearby towns.
The Ceremony Garden is full of blooms and special touches. It’s surrounded by overhanging trees and planters, creating a magical space. The garden is always shady, so outdoor ceremonies stay cooler. The altar has a redwood arch and a small ground waterfall, adding the enchanting sound of running water. Many photo backdrops can be found while meandering the many pathways, including the sweet, colorful wishing well.
Cocktail hour can be in several locations. First, a nice beverage may be offered on the lawn next to the ceremony garden while the wedding party takes photos. Or utilize the lawn adjacent to the barn just a few steps away. This space has a charming bridge and barn wall covered in morning glory; outdoor games are nice at this location, too. Another cocktail hour space is the bar portion of the barn with large doors creating a breezeway. Inside is a rustic bar and several barrel tables and stools, and you can continue using it throughout your night.
The Reception Barn, painted “barn red,” is more than 120 years old and rustic, with a cool, open-beam ceiling. The barn also has some galvanized metal to create texture. And we love the redwood, open slat siding that allows just a glimpse of sunlight and breeze. The pillars are adorned with twinkle lights and market lights strewn throughout make for a warm inviting feel. The rental includes the dance floor, round tables and cross back wooden chairs for your reception, as well as a golf cart shuttle for convenience.
Did we mention that Monk Ranch has a bridal cabin with comfy seating and salon stations, perfect for getting ready and dressing. In addition they have a “Collection Container” with many rustic accent pieces and décor that you may borrow for your event. This is such a kind touch, and perfect for those watching their budget and doing a DIY event.
Monk Ranch exports almonds and has a variety of farming equipment and props for fun photo ops. Check out the sweet walnut tree swing. Also, photographers love this venue for engagement photos, especially in spring when the almond trees are blooming. Monk Ranch is available May, June, September, and October for intimate country wedding of up to 100 guests.
