Roses and Acorns Creekside Weddings (at Camp Nauvoo) is a perfect mountain forest setting for a beautiful outdoor wedding.  The Camp is nestled in the historic gold country region of Northern California at 1,800′ elevation in El Dorado County.  Outdoor lovers will revel in this hidden sanctuary designed for special celebrations, just a one hour drive from downtown Sacramento. Casual camping weddings, DIY events,  family reunions, birthdays, yoga retreats and corporate team-building functions are ideal on this 86 acre forested property. The drive into the camp will excite and whet your appetite as to what is to come as you follow the narrow country road and cross the bridge to arrive at Camp Nauvoo.

Many site options are available and include the single story Lodge as the indoor facility.  Wood floors, open ceiling with fans and a cozy fireplace are just some of inviting features in the centrally located building. The Lodge comes with a commercial kitchen that can be used to prepare food for your event. Not only does it come equipped with stove, burners and dish washing system, but also a walk-in fridge that is great for holding flowers, a wedding cake or items too large for the main refrigerator. Tables and chairs are available, and you can arrange for linens through the ownership.  Laurie and Greg own and operate Camp Nauvoo and it is a lifestyle for them and a labor of love.

If you prefer to move the activities outside, the wide open Meadow with Amish Gazebo is a great choice.  The Meadow is an open grassy area surrounded by a variety of trees and offers sun and shade depending on the time of day. This open area is ideal for shade tents that are available (for an additional rental) if you require more protection from the elements. The classic designed gazebo is white and was made by the Amish.  It is equipped with power and lights and is perfect for a wedding ceremony with it’s great focal point.  Photos are ideal at this focal point. The Meadow is bordered by beautiful Weber Creek that winds along the property.  A sweet circle arch with climbing vines is another option for a ceremony spot, located along the creek. A short walk across the foot bridge leads to the Amphitheater and Fire Pit. A wonderfully nostalgic evening can be spent sitting around singing campfire songs and making s’mores.

After a long day enjoying fun activities (volleyball, basketball, corn hole, a game of softball, etc), or  hiking, fishing, inter-tubing and relaxing, it is time to retire to one of the many well-equipped camp sites.  Two unique Teepees are visible from many angles, along with several Tent Cabins (can you say “glamping?”) of various sizes, plus additional open camping sites are available to choose from. The established tents sleep a total of  34 people.  The property has restrooms and showers just a short distance from the tents and the activities.  A bonus building is the sweet Villa that can be used as a bridal changing room. This quaint structure is another great spot for photographs.

Come prepared to take advantage of tranquility and many options for organizing your own event.  Family and friends can all pitch in for a memorable do-it-yourself style event.  A wedding weekend can start Friday or Saturday morning, and end with the nuptials on Sunday!  How fun!

Thank you Wendy with The Freckled Photographer for joining us on this site visit and for capturing the beauty of this wooded wonderland.
