The Sheraton Grand Hotel is a beautiful 500 plus room hotel located in downtown Sacramento.  The hotel is part of the renovated historic Public Market building that was originally designed by famed architect Julia Morgan. Designer of Hearst Castle, she was responsible for the design of many beautiful buildings and homes that were built at the turn of the century in Sacramento and the Bay Area.  This grand hotel is conveniently located next to the Sacramento Convention Center and just blocks away from the State Capitol. This historical property originally housed local shops for over 50 years. Fruits, vegetables and meat merchants along with restaurants and tailors and other assorted vendors enjoyed much success with the large growth of the area in the early 1900’s.  The conversion of the Public Market in the 1990’s gave Sacramento one of its finest hotels.  The handsome brick exterior gives way to a beautiful, modern interior, showcasing unique art pieces, yet keeping the vintage steel structural girders of the original building.

On the lower level, the large, attractive ballroom can be reserved as one large space or divided in sections that can accommodate a wide range of numbers and event types depending on your needs.  The focal hanging light fixtures in the ballroom are a nod to the Arts & Craft design used in the 1900’s.  Just outside the ballroom, in the Grand Nave Foyer, is a perfect pre-social space for cocktails or a conference function space.  This venue works perfectly for a reception following a ceremony at Capitol Park (just walk on over) or one of the many downtown churches.

On the second floor level are several conference and meeting rooms named after the historical businesses from its past as a thriving marketplace. Additionally, the Sheraton’s fine dining restaurant called Morgan’s is on the 2nd level and overlooks the entire Public Market space from above – Morgan’s has an excellent and varied menu. For after hours, or even as a meet-up location, consider the option of the popular, Public House Bar in the attractive, open lobby. This wonderfully central location makes the hotel a perfect choice for your special event. The rich, brick exterior was perfectly restored to the look of its heyday. The white, scroll window treatments were preserved and are a signature of the famous architect of this period.  The high rise Sheraton hotel housing the sleeping rooms, state-of-the-art workout facility, and outdoor swimming pool was built adjacent to the old Public Market.  The two spaces flow together beautifully.  The views from the hotel rooms of the city skyline are wonderful!   The facility is 100% non-smoking and it is a pet friendly venue! Whether planning a business event or a social gathering, you will not be disappointed with this lovely location.
