The full name for this venue is Sierra 2 Center for the Arts and Community. When looking for an affordable venue that comes with tables and chairs, staff to set them up, and also has pretty courtyards and patios with nice landscaping, and you can bring-in or DIY catering, do consider Sierra 2! Located within the neighborhood of Curtis Park, one of Sacramento’s oldest, most lovely established communities, the Sierra 2 building is in Spanish Revival architecture and includes the charm of the 1920s era when it was originally an elementary school. Being a community center, there are many activities going on, such as yoga classes, lectures, a charming small theatre, meetings and wine tastings. But let’s talk about two of the rooms that may be rented for weddings and receptions, birthday parties and/or corporate dinner socials.

Garden Room – a light and airy room that will hold 50. We love the tall multi-paned windows which will bring in lots of light, or will be lovely with reflecting candlelight. There are charming vintage hanging lamps, original wainscoting on the walls, and lovely French Doors that lead out to a sweet landscaped patio. The patio can also accommodate 50 guests for a cocktail gathering, outdoor dinner, or to hold a wedding ceremony in front of a pretty fountain. The courtyard has a decorative wrought iron fence and gate for entry into this space. There is also a convenient staging kitchen off to the side of the room (no cooking on site).

Curtis Hall – newly remodeled, this room use to be the “multi-purpose room” for the former elementary school, so is perfect for larger events.(120-150 inside). And there is great convenience with having a large prep kitchen with spacious countertop, sink, microwave and refrigerator (no cooking on site). Curtis Hall has neutral carpeting and a tiled dance floor (no need to rent one!) plus one full wall of windows which looks out to the tree lined and landscaped large courtyard. The courtyard is perfect for a wedding held under the white pergola, which not only provides a bit of shade but is just calling for hanging market lights, paper lanterns or whatever you can imagine. Al fresco dining for up to 100 would be lovely as the sun is setting and the gardens take on their night time magic.

If looking for a pretty DIY (decorate it yourself) space, consider Sierra 2’s choice of two rooms. One of the great benefits is you can rent by the hour or even have the room for the entire day !
