Soul Food Farm is a 54 acre working farm nestled among the rolling foothills of Vacaville, CA. This serene location is just an hour from the Bay Area and 30 minutes from Napa and less than an hour from Sacramento. This beautiful farm just opened for events in 2014, so I expect that there will be many changes and improvements in the future as the owner and farmer has big plans for this lovely property.

The options for event space on the farm are vast. My favorite is the gorgeous olive tree orchard. In the middle of the orchard is an ancient oak tree and that tree would work great as the backdrop for your vows or dinner party, not to mention photo ops.

Open fields are available if a party tent is desired. There is a main shaded area near the house that works well for dinner and dancing. The two bedroom house, an attractive modern cottage, can be rented as well if you would like to stay over night. The kitchen is large and has a commercial refrigerator and stove that can support the catering needs (from a venue approved list).

Adjacent to one of the large lavender fields, sits a safari style tent on a platform overlooking the foothills. This lovely white sturdy canvas tent is furnished with country/antique furniture. It is a charming touch for those who would like to camp (“glamp”) in style.  Imagine waking up to the sounds of clucking chickens in the distance! Many of the touches on the farm are re-purposed items. For example the restroom is a clever transformation from a shipping container with beautiful décor and amenities.

The container restroom has a unique and very fun, trough style sink and a bear claw tub inside. Another example of “up cycling” is located over the dance space – a string of lights made out of cans to spot light the festivities. Photo ops are everywhere, including vintage fencing and gates, an old farm truck and antique farm machinery.

A wonderful large circular fire pit area is available for your guests to gather at the end of the night to enjoy s’mores; don’t forget to invite a friend who can play the guitar! But there is still more… a chicken coup with many varieties of hens, and a wonderful vegetable garden where they grow everything from sweet strawberries to plump pumpkins depending the season. Add in the orchard of fruit trees and you have all the elements of a lovely working farm!  At Soul Food Farm they produce and sell olive oil, lavender oil and eggs.

There’s plenty of parking in a tree shaded field away from the main area, but still convenient. The vibe of the farm is both modern and traditional. It embodies the best of both worlds. This lush tranquil spot would be an amazing location for a farm inspired or farm-to-fork event.

Thank you Vixen Photographer, Allison Stahl for joining us on this site inspection… and in the middle of winter you still were able to capture the gorgeous property!
