In the heart of the rolling foothills, just 20 minutes from Sacramento, you’ll find the sweet little town of Sloughhouse.  We’re excited to announce a new wedding and event venue,  The Gardens at Hilcrest Winery.  This private estate offers lush, green outdoor spaces that are immaculately maintained with fresh potted flowers and greenery, so little extra decor is needed. Hilcrest offers several lawns, a patio and a deck, so you can have your entire event at one location.  There is also plenty of room for a tent, although it’s not always needed since the lawns are surrounded by giant redwood and pine trees.

The Vintage Rose Garden Lawn is the smallest grass area, perfect for a more intimate feel to a smaller wedding ceremony or perhaps pre-ceremony cocktails and some lawn games.  The western border of the lawn has a lovely backdrop of majestic redwoods, great for adding shade and making a spectacular bordering backdrop.  The Grand Garden Reception Lawn works well for your dinner reception with Italian market lights strewn around the perimeter creating a lovely night-time glow.  It’s also bordered by a nice long deck, with flowering containers and pots, which is great for a DJ setup or an elevated cake display. This is a delightfully large lawn, so tables can be comfortably set out, and even a side lounge area can fit.  The Wine Bar Patio is wonderful for cocktails with a beautiful wine tasting area and built in bar, creatively using a cargo container as the framework. The patio is filled with more blooming planters and trees, and there are also heaters, umbrellas and wine barrel cocktail tables available for use. Additionally, there are pieces of vintage furniture for use, such as old chairs, table and sideboard. There is no need to rent a dance floor, as dancing on the patio, under the redwoods would be fantastic. Finally, another option for event space is The East Garden Ceremony Lawn which can be used for mid and larger sized ceremonies or perhaps team building games for a corporate event (serious Frisbee competitions??)  Views of the rolling, grassy countryside is more visible from this location.

Invite your guests to explore the gardens on the meandering pathways and charming foot-bridges over the dry creek. They’ll have so much fun finding the unique garden art that the owner has collected and created out of vintage farm equipment, metal, natural rock and wood –  notice the hand-forged metal work along the pathway bridge; there are even a few guardian angels hidden in the greenery. There are also quiet spots to just sit and enjoy the view on benches and a comfy custom settee made from old iron bed frames.  Your photographer will have a wonderful time with all of the different backdrops available for romantic photos, including the surrounding fields and a pond, and of course the magnificent California sunsets.

The Gardens at Hilcrest limit the number of private events on property so you can use the entire outdoor spaces of the estate for entertaining your nearest and dearest friends and family.  It’s the perfect location for a backyard or home wedding, but without the work of having it at your own home.   Hilcrest has made a special arrangement with the Marriott Hotel, Folsom to be a preferred hotel for your guests. Brides will be able to have their entourage in a Marriott bridal room for hair/make-up and dressing.  Arrive to your wedding venue, relaxed, beautiful and ready to walk down the aisle!
