This venue is one of the largest capacity venues we have on our site, and one of the most unique! For background history, The Merchant Trading Co. warehouse space is located north on the outskirts of the immediate Sacramento downtown; it is on the U.P Railroad spur and once was used for storage and transferring goods (fruits, vegetables, hard goods, etc.) from railcars to trucking lines for distribution through the region. The Merchant is over 6,000 square feet. The practical load-in bays and docks work to the advantage for parties and events and the central courtyard space is ideal for large corporate functions, art shows, festivals or an awesome open air wedding dinner party and dance fest under the multiple strands of festive market lights. Food trucks can easily drive into the courtyard, park along the perimeter and there is electricity for use. Plenty of space is available for trucks, tables and guests to mill about and enjoy. How cool would that be?

The “wings” to the courtyard are rustic and historically significant.  They have fantastic wood beam ceiling roof lines and with the roll up grill doors the views out to the courtyard with the market lights can be romantic… or depending on the theme and vibe, invigorating! We see any décor being possible, from lots of bling by hanging crystal chandeliers, to paper Asian lanterns strung about, to Mexican fiesta banners. The interior spaces within the wings are a blank palette waiting for your imagination to go wild.

Because this is fairly raw and rough, but oh so wonderful warehouse space just waiting for your additions, you’ll need to be creative with supplies and equipment, such as ladders, possibly a lift and provide portable restrooms. This is a diamond in the rough, where your event will be talked about as an awesome venue site for years to come.

Outside catering is allowed, and if you want an e-session or photo shoot with an urban warehouse vibe, contact Skip, the owner, to make arrangements. Our Vixen photographer, Mischa Purcell, was itching to get funky and creative utilizing many available photo ops.
