The Vixens enjoyed a Sunday drive in the California Gold Country foothills to stroll and absorb a lovely slice of country heaven. The Barns at Willow Creek are on 40 acres, near a little old community known as Brown’s Valley, not too far from Grass Valley and only 1 ½ hours from downtown Sacramento. After entering through a white-washed split rail fence, we followed a meandering pathway through oaks and landscaped gardens across to another pathway, lined with pretty bedding plants, which lead to a fantastic lush lawn that surrounded a large serene pond. Picnics can be held on this lawn but we saw it set up for the most idyllic wedding ceremony location. A pair of intricate crystal chandeliers have been hung under a pond side willow tree, fastened to pecky cedar beams that frame the couple. Guests can witness the nuptials while gazing at all the country serenity.

A focal area for gathering is under a white three-peaked tent used for the dinner reception; the three tents are configured to have a fun dance party (on a checkboard dance floor!), to hold a head table and to have guests positioned to see all the action. Because this tented area is elevated above the pond, the views are lovely as evening falls into darkness. Landscape lighting enhances the surrounding trees as well as strands of Italian market lights that have the tent glowing.

Barns at Willow Creek has the largest collection of vintage décor we’ve ever seen. From large pieces such as dressers, chandeliers, armoires, old doors and beautiful mirrors, on down to detailed smaller pieces that make up interesting, unique table centerpieces. They have all kinds of fascinating collectibles to create a vignette display… and actually very little florals would be needed. They also have tables, chairs and linens (in different colors and styles) plus awesome mis-matched vintage china –  and (for an ungraded price) beautiful wooden farm tables and mis-matched chairs. It’s all right there for you!

Corporate functions, team building, parties and socials have many activities available for use at Barns at Willow Creek, such as conducting disc golf tournaments, playing bocce ball, volleyball and basketball… or just walking many pathways on those 40 acres (there is even a secret garden for relaxing in… or possibly holding an intimate wedding ceremony!)  There is also a camping area (with electricity!) – you get the idea, this place has it all! But wait… there’s more – even two awesome vintage inspired camper trailers are on the property and available for overnight rental… plus a vintage Airstream trailer that has a mid-century lounge in the back along with a photo booth… how fun is that?!

Finally a convenient “lodge” is on the property that can sleep 10 so with the use of the camper trailers you could have a wonderful destination event! We love their motto “From Country to Couture.”

Thank you Mischa Purcell of Mischa Photography for taking so many awesome photos and being our traveling buddy.
