Battle of the Chefs (Vixen Chefs!)
Last evening, all four of the Venue Vixens, plus Megan from Glide Ranch outside of Davis/Yolo County attended the Battle of the Chef’s presented by the National Association of Catering & Events (NACE). We are members of this wonderful organization and one of the sponsors for the evening. Our VIP table was on a stage where we could look out over the cooking action… what a hoot – and very fast paced. Three of our Vixen Vendors participated ~ Classique Catering, Jackson Catering & Events and Il Fornaio Sacramento, so we cheered them on!! Each chef team selected a protein item to work with and had a short window to make their masterpiece. All were winners in our book!
This is Chef Chris Jackson of Jackson Catering & Events, Co-Chef Brandon Rodgers and team created an oven roasted chicken over a warm couscous salad with fresh corn, basil and garnished with fresh herbs and nectarine salsa.
Classique Catering whipped up a fantastic wild mushroom ravioli with gorgonzola cheese in a white sauce – served over a bed of sautéed arugula with lemon zest and topped with heirloom tomatoes.
The team for Il Fornaio Sacramento worked rapidly creating a flat iron steak with Jamaican jerk press, a spicy fresh corn ragout with bell pepper and green beans, garnished with caper berries and heirloom tomatoes.
And we’ll give acknowledgment to Event Architects and their team for making a lovely salmon dish (didn’t get the description).
