Antiquite Maison Privee is unique in that it is an art gallery, antique salon, event center, winery, and music venue. It’s located in hip and trendy mid-town Sacramento. This venue is located in a wonderful historic 1924 Mediterranean building which just happens to be on the Historical Registry.
The words Maison Privee means “Private House” and even though very elegant, it has a comfortable, relaxed vibe of one’s lovely home.
The Main Salon houses fabulous antique furnishings of collector Michael Forbes; the cool thing is that these furnishings can remain in the space for the event. Stained glass arched church windows are marvelous behind the vintage bar and the sideboards are beautiful lining the brick walls. Rotating art is created by various local artists and the selection of high-end antiquities are all for sale or admiring.
In addition, it is dimly lit and romantic, with an open beam industrial ceiling and wrought iron chandeliers. A comfortable lounge grouping with leather couch and soft chairs can be arranged in any configuration. The floors are stained, high gloss cement, which make a great dance floor. Also, there is small permanent stage ready for music performances, a DJ, a sweetheart table, or for use in giving presentations for a meeting or fundraiser.
Adjacent you will find the Atrium space with its Mexican paving stones, and then the newest addition – Antiquite Midtown Winery. This boutique urban winery features wines handcrafted from premium Amador, Napa and Sonoma County grapes. Awesome focal pendant lights with Thomas Edison style light bulbs hang above the tasting bar. Wine barrels with finished tops for cocktail tables are wonderful and fitting.
The “performance winery” has hosted talks with the winemaker, barrel samplings, and a winemaker dinner series partnering with local chefs. Using the tasting room in conjunction with the Main Salon, gives roaming opportunities. You can also have wine and appetizers in the tasting room and then dinner in the Main salon. This venue has flexibility for however you wish to use the various spaces.
And finally, through the beautiful French doors of the Wine Tasting Room is the secluded, intimate Patio Courtyard. It has wall décor of a patina fence gate, vines and plants, and wine barrels overflowing with flowers. You will find many cool interesting touches here and there. This venue is definitely a “Jewel of Midtown!”
