Visiting the Conservatory of Flowers was a true treat. I had the fortune of seeing the venue set for a full event from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception using all of their spaces in their finest showcase. This historic landmark in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, quiets at night and is the perfect setting for a corporate soirée or wedding celebration. From the incredible gardens just outside the doors within the park setting to the incredible Victorian architecture of the Conservatory, this overall venue can accommodate groups as large as 500 for a mingling event throughout or more intimate groups in one of their four spaces. This beautiful landmark remains from its original construction in 1878 because of the efforts of many organizations to save it as one of the worlds most endangered monuments. Because of this effort, this one of a kind, wood and glass conservatory had a face lift in 2003 and stands in all its glory.
If an outdoor cocktail party or ceremony is desired, the large raised platform allows for the backdrop of the Conservatory. The Victorian entry way is used for ceremonies or choose the perfect spot between the famous flower beds. If your guests are lucky like I was you may offer a champagne greeting in this beautiful Victorian entry way as they enter the lush interior of the Conservatory. The pathways that wind and join again through the Conservatory allow for great flow, variety, and interest amongst the wildlife and plants. The spaces move from potted plants, to the lowlands, the highlands, and an aquatic space. I was lucky enough to see the butterfly exhibit, but be sure to make your way all the way through the space and catch the special exhibit. Traveling cocktail parties are most ideal in this space and caterers, activities, and musicians can be strategically placed for a very smooth event that allows your guests to experience the space while being entertained.
Stepping out of the Conservatory leads you to the Orchid Pavilion. This space is ideal for the mid to final phase of any great party. The new space showcases wood floors stained in a deep, rich tone and offers a garden tent reception space. The Pavilion comfortably seats 150 guests for a formal dinner reception with space for dancing and plenty of fun. Tying the lush nature of the Conservatory into the Pavilion would add an amazing touch to the space, but it is truly a blank canvas to create your event and bring your theme to life.
Whether you are a city local or planning a destination event to one of the most glorious cities in the world, any event at the Conservatory of Flowers is bound to be amazing!
