More than two years ago, The Venue Vixens made a very quick visit to Cooper Vineyards, but we absolutely knew we wanted to return for a thorough tour. A boutique wine production, a sweet and rustic tasting room, and the warmth that comes with a family run operation simply begged for our second visit.  This 5- generational family run Amador County winery lies in Shenandoah Valley in the foothills above Sacramento.  If we had it our way, this venue would be just that (a stunning venue) with wine being a secondary purpose, but Cooper prides itself on their 17 handcrafted varietals and the primary focus of wine.  We tasted and agreed their wines are lovely.   This property is perfect for any style of event.  Small events would be best in winter months making use of the tasting room and patio with heat lamps, but any size group would find Cooper a special location in the spring, summer and fall months. The choice of at least four locations on site can be found with more options for those “out of the box” thinkers.

A large grassy area offers a shaded and beautiful corner that could be ideal for a ceremony, with the remainder of the lawn set perfectly for a reception and cocktail space.  Get as creative as you like with theatrical lighting and rentals of your choice.  This is a blank canvas to create your vision.  The gem of the large open area is the antique Ford sheep truck set within the lawn.  Everyone wants to check this out up close and it makes a great backdrop for photos.

Cooper Vineyards has to have one of my favorite small tasting rooms.  This Tuscan villa has every detail you would hope, stunning stucco walls with mature wisteria and rose bushes surrounding the building and the solid wood front door (another perfect photo spot).  Using the inside space for a birthday celebration, small cooperate dinner, or rehearsal dinner would be perfect.  The large wood back doors open onto a patio that overlooks the vineyards.  This patio would make a perfect ceremony or cocktail space.

Choosing a row within the vines is also an option for a dinner party.  Dining within the vineyard offers the truly natural winery feel where the grapes are your backdrop.  In addition to the ‘among the vines option’ you can choose a location onsite within the walnut trees or the rock round-pin tucked away on the backside of the property.  This is one unique spot that could be fun to create something “out of the box” or inside the circle…however you look at it!

Head out to the very quaint Gold Rush towns where many restaurants offer Cooper’s wines, and stay in the area to enjoy while you envision your next event at Cooper Vineyards.  There are a number of little details I have not noted here, but will leave as a surprise when you see it for yourself! A wedding planner is highly recommended at this venue since much of the details would need to be coordinated and brought in.  The Vixens are here to help!

We thank Mike Regan of 5 Finger Photo for joining us on this site tour.
