Events at Deer Lake is located in Tahoe National Park a world-wide destination, so as expected there is beauty of the natural forest in every direction. The peaceful lake provides the backdrop for stunning wedding photos that are magazine worthy!
Read MoreMeandering pathways, lined with bordering rocks, throughout the property are populated with wildflowers and foliage. It’s just lovely.
There are several ceremony spots, but we especially love the Homestead Lawn. The lawn is surrounded by natural rock outcroppings, towering pine trees and serene views of the alpine mountain lake. The historic homestead, originally built as a hunting lodge in 1924, then used for the Girls Scout camp, has a stone, brick and log exterior. The interior is handsome for photos and is available for bridal party getting ready. There is an additional cabin for getting-ready as well.
It is a short stroll to have cocktails on the beach after the touching ceremony! Soak in the scenery. Following cocktails, continue down the path to the Wamp Activity Lodge for your reception. The substantial lodge is very open with a wall of window and wood beamed ceiling and details. In addition it offers a great deck jutting into the forest. And you may utilize their wooden tables and benches for the “camp” feel or bring in specialty rentals to create your unique design.
Furthermore, this is a great weekend retreat venue. There are limited guest accommodations, however, there’s plenty of space for camping! They offer bathroom and showers onsite for those enjoying the weekend. Or if preferred, they can enjoy accommodations nearby at Serene Lake or Truckee. Most important is to look up and see the stars – incredible.
Equally important, the venue rental helps a greater cause! The venue is also the location of Camp Wamp, a residential summer camp for persons living with physical disabilities. It is owned by the Stephen J. Wampler Foundation. In addition to providing this worthy camp, they actively promote a forest management program and sustainable forestry practices. Their primary goal is to enhance forest health and vitality, protecting the ecosystem for future generations. Sharing this venue with your guests will support all that they do!
