EVENT ONLY ~ NO WEDDINGS

Whether Spring, Summer or Fall, The Farm on Putah Creek exemplifies the entire idea of “local” and “farm to table”.  The Farm on Putah Creek (also known as the Center for Land-Based Learning) is privately held land protected by an agricultural conservation easement.  The 40 acres of prime farmland on Putah Creek in rural Northern California, just outside the town of Winters, is a working farm and used to educate people about farming practices.  They have many programs for children and high school students to get hands-on experience about agriculture and environmental sciences.

Although their main objective is education, the property is fabulous for large groups of people and we have found that it works wonderfully for outdoor events, although they do not allow weddings on the property.  It’s also nice to know that the revenue from the special events helps to support the farming programs.  The farm is truly a blank slate with several different areas that can be used. The Farm, boasting some working barns (which galvanized metal work as great backdrops) and the original 1890s wooden farmhouse, the massive lawn and magnificent oak tree spaces can be transformed for corporate events, family reunions and parties, or left naturally for an outdoor farm-fresh feel.  The west entrance, lined with old olive trees, forms a lovely canopy.  We love the idea of hanging market lights across the canopy and using long great tables down the length for an enchanting dinner.  There is also a large amphitheatre with a built in fire pit that can be used as lecture area or later in the evening as a s’mores station area.

The Farm rental includes a few basic tables and chairs, but most groups will want to personalize their event by bringing in the rentals.  The property rental includes use from 8am to midnight, giving plenty of time for setup, while allowing the party to continue into the night.  The event spaces are tucked away from the road and surrounded by walnut orchards and various crops, so be aware that it’s natural and casual show attire would be best.  It’s a rural area, so bringing in some specialty (and functional) lighting is necessary.  The event spaces are all outdoors and uncovered, so we suggest having your event from May to October.

The Farm at Putah Creek has tremendous potential.  It’s so natural and fun, with different crops, fruit, veggies and flowers, blooming all the time.  It’s lush in foliage and oh so green…so décor can be very minimal and guests can just enjoy the natural atmosphere and the country smell.  This location is a perfect outdoor space for nature lovers.  They also compost onsite and recycle…so those looking for a Green option would be happy and want to check this property out!
