Looking for a unique, non-traditional, hip and trendy venue … well your search is over and you need look no further than The Good Saint Urban Reserve! This awesome, new, mid-town Sacramento establishment is a labor of love and a work in progress.  The location is not new, and has quite an interesting history to its story.  The Good Saint started as a ranch in 1920 and through the decades this property has had many uses, however,  enter the new owners –  N’Gina & Ian Kavookjian, as their thought, vision and creativity are obvious as you tour this eclectic property.   The Kavookjians are the same people who established mid-town’s own South restaurant (if you haven’t been there you must go!).  They have big plans for the future of The Good Saint and they have already made many changes to create a fun and inviting venue.  Not only are the indoor and outdoor spaces available for private events but they also host their own events, like outdoor yoga, live music and movies on the lawn to name just a few. The Good Saint is comprised of 6 unique buildings that encircle the courtyard. There is definitely a “down-home” Southern vibe to the property with the use of metal roofing, wood timbers, and one of the buildings is referred to as The Porch (what could be more Southern than sipping lemonade on an open porch?)  The large grassy area in the middle of the compound includes a number of beautiful, large shade trees (we were told that a very old orange tree produces the juiciest, sweetest fruit imaginable!) A  lovely relaxing sitting garden with benches and chairs is under one of those large shade trees and a great vantage point for people watching. In the “fun and games” section, cornhole is set up, as well as a very trendy shipping container pool/jacuzzi, which is unique and actually amazing (another great use for a shipping container!)  The plexiglass side allows you to see into the pool that sits above ground. One of their next projects is to build a deck around the pool.

In the charming encircling structure, there are multiple rooms to use in a number of ways. The entry room, acts as a foyer of sorts, with its striking black painted walls and collection of vintage turtle shells decorating the walls. We see picking up a welcome glass of champagne and moving through the French doors out to the grassy courtyard.  Future plans for the property will be to build out a kitchen where South Restaurant (or other outside, licensed caterers) can produce quality vitals for special events of all kinds. If it is a wedding you are planning, very soon they will have dedicated space for a bridal changing room. And if you desire a stage-one of the six rooms  is set up for a small band or other performers (poetry readings? or presentations?).

The Good Saint Urban Reserve has endless possibilities, and we can’t wait to see how this location evolves!
