Jaw dropping.  Awe inspiring. Uniquely incredible.  Grand.  So many descriptive words for this fantastic historic Mansion nestled in tranquil countryside in the Sacramento River Delta region.  This property will make any bride feel like a princess, and the invited guests will consider the event one to be remembered for years to come.

The history of the Grand Island Mansion is a rich one.  Built in 1917 in the Italian Renaissance style, the mansion has 58 rooms, five marble fireplaces, rare handmade tiles, imported wood paneling, Moorish arches and beautiful period furnishings.  The original owner entertained high society guests who feasted in the elegant dining room, or danced in the ballroom; gentlemen would play billiards while the ladies would watch movies in the 14 seat theatre. Today these beautiful features still exist and are enjoyed as much as in the early years.

We love the garden ceremony area, with a perfect white wrought iron gazebo covered in trailing vines. Imagine descending down the grand staircase, past a large Italianate fountain to a pathway leading to your ceremony…and because of the cool Delta breezes, further imagine the vision of your bridal veil catching a slight lift – so pretty!  Once the ceremony is completed, guests may then enjoy champagne offered in the Grand Foyer before moving into the stunning open-air three floors tall dining room.  One side of the dining room is all windows which overlooks the Mansion’s Marquee and Italian statuary garden.

Dancing and merriment occur in the downstairs ballroom, with polished inlaid floors, and a second magnificent bar area.  Romantic evening strolls will bring you to the gardens, beautiful fountains, the private pool and cabana area, or even out to the surrounding orchards.

For weddings or parties that are higher in numbers, select the Marquee to hold the reception.  This beautiful white fabric lined tented structure faces the lush orchard on one side, or the Cypress trees and Italian statuary garden on the other.  The large chandeliers in the tent are eye catching.

One of the best aspects about holding your wedding or party at Grand Island Mansion is the after-hours party.  For those lucky ones who stay overnight, late night pizza and snacks are offered in the handsomely appointed Hemingway Hunts Lounge on the second floor.  Then sweet sleep in gorgeously decorated rooms located on the third and fourth floors.   This property is definitely opulent, romantic and very GRAND.
