The Historic Oakdale Ranch is a lovely venue with many options for weddings and events. It’s also rich in local history as there have been SIX generations of the same family living on the ranch – since 1852! The 400 acre working ranch is located near thebeautiful Capay Valley, less than
an hour west of downtown Sacramento. It’s a fun place for a barn party, a charity event or a sweet wedding; this farm is perfect.
The Ranch is an oasis in the middle of farm crops and orchards. A peaceful stroll around the beautiful 2 acre pond, stocked with bass and catfish, is a must. There is an island and a large fountain in the pond with stately weeping willow trees nearby. Lush natural grasses, reeds and cattails growing along a nearby creek bed add to the earthy ambience. There is a large well-manicured open lawn with The Pond along one side, a natural cottonwood tree backdrop, and the walnut orchard on the other side, just perfect for a wedding ceremony.
We imagined pretty market umbrellas strategically placed to give a garden feel to the lawn area, or arrange for a tent as there is plenty of room.
Conveniently, next to The Pond is a covered pergola and boat dock. The pergola can be utilized as a bar and food service area, lounge with a nice firepit, a pre-social gathering area , cocktail reception space, or as a hub for dancing on the bricked patio alongside. And the Walnut Orchard adjacent to the lawn is a special spot for photos. Some pieces of vintage farm equipment dot the property which are also begging for photo ops. In addition, when available, the bride and groom can enjoy a rad ride to the reception in the owner’s vintage ’57 Chevy Bel Air car!!
Another option for your celebration could be within the Oakdale Barn. It’s a large, metal barn with the interior decked our with rustic barnwood siding, romantic market lights and sky lights. The barn makes this venue perfect in any season! We see you enjoying the ceremony at The Pond and then walking the short country roadway to the barn, where dinner and dancing can be held inside. Don’t want to walk? Catch the hay wagon for a fun ride from the pond to the barn, and back!
The incredible historic Victorian era Farmhouse is available for use, including a well appointed bridal suite with kitchen and a private bathroom. Just behind The Farmhouse is the quaint Guy’s Barn which is perfect for the gentlemen to gather. The Farmhouse and Guy’s Barn is a short distance from the Oakdale Barn and another perfect location for beautiful photography. Historic Oakdale Ranch can be a comfy, country-casual venue or add some glitz, upscale touches, and jazzy details for a unique contrast.
Additionally, the package arrangements that are offered make it very easy. Use of the venue is from Friday at noon to Sunday at noon. That’s amazing! However, there are shorter options for renting the venue for Friday, Saturday or Sunday event. Discuss with the event coordinator how you can utilize your time at the ranch.
