You will be enchanted from the very start, entering through the lovely gates with the Irongate tree motif. The gates are used throughout the venue creating unique spaces. There are meandering paths from one spot to the next, so the transition feels completely purposeful. Just steps beyond the manicured landscaping is a field bordered with white fencing and a eucalyptus grove. What a dream to stroll and take some gorgeous romantic wedding shots in the grove!
As guests walk through the first entry gate, passing fountains and pretty flowerbeds, they’ll find the Garden Courtyard. This area is designed perfectly for a ceremony, with pavers and a lovely center aisle. Trees border this courtyard (and in season, the white crepe myrtle trees are in beautiful bloom). The Courtyard can also be closed off by the iron gates for a “big reveal” of the reception area after the ceremony.
The Tented Terrace is just beyond the Courtyard, and what a tent it is! A circular, opaque, sailcloth tent offering shade during the day and then it glows during the evening. There is a beautiful horizontal, hanging wreath in the center, surrounded by Italian market lighting around the perimeter; truly romantic. This is a perfect spot for cocktail hour or dinner for a smaller guest list, and dancing would be nice here too.
Just beyond the Terrace is the Garden Lawn, surrounded by seasonal blooming flowerbeds. The lawn area is large, but hedged walls and trees provide shade and create privacy. To the south, through the juniper flanked iron gates, you’ll see the eucalyptus grove and a small redwood forest for more photo ops! Centered on the western side is an iron gazebo that is a natural backdrop for a head table or a musician or DJ. Right over the gazebo is a clear view of the gorgeous California sunsets that occur frequently…truly majestic. The terra cotta fountain and overhead market lighting complete the ambiance of the Garden Lawn.
The Inn is a luxurious house to be used for hair and makeup services and dressing room. There are several rooms (and many bathrooms!) so the couples can get ready separately; and yes there is a handsome hang-out den for the men. The great room offers a comfy sofa, sitting areas, tables for snacks, and a pool table. There is also a baby grand piano, available for use by a professional, in the Sun Room. We can just imagine the sounds of the piano wafting out the windows for guests to enjoy while socializing under the tent.
The Irongate Garden Inn is beautiful and elegant, yet very versatile. The landscaping is plentiful and green and the blooming flowers are neutral, making it a blank canvas for any palette.
