What a fun place and so much more than expected.  Ludy’s Mainstreet BBQ Restaurant in Woodland, California, was scheduled as a lunch stop. The plan was to check out the great BBQ style catering and higher end catering through Ludy’s and be on our way to the next venue stop.  We, of course, loved the interior of the restaurant with its fun, farm, authentically cowboy style.  Small semi-private rooms are available for small luncheons and other parties.  The semi-private comes into play because there are no true doors to seal off the private spaces, but instead, a sliding farm door or old saloon doors.  Did I say authentic, yes I did?!  Hay bales abound, booths with coat hooks, and lots of farm décor.

Who doesn’t enjoy good BBQ? This is especially true with Ludy’s special BBQ sauce.  We had a sampling of each style of sauce on chicken, ribs, and tri tip.  I am pretty sure I could eat an entire plate of their ribs. They also have well priced catering plans for all styles of events.  You can choose a dual entrée for your guests under $20.00 per person; unheard of!  Even if you aren’t looking for a casual style BBQ event, Ludy’s can handle your group as they have many more refined menu items. They specialize in both onsite and offsite events and travel throughout Northern California.

The biggest and best surprise for us was their outside patio for larger events on site.  The space is well shaded with a wood pergola and offers night time lighting to set the mood.  There is even a small stream with water wheel, that flows through the patio space and separates the areas making a ceremony and reception possible in this single space. The venue is perfect as it is for a casual event or has the potential to completely change its look with some added décor and attention to detail.  Drape the beams, string additional lighting, enclose the space to accentuate the brick walls, a few touches with linens and added color and you are set.  The basics are handled: tables, chairs, brick patio, arbor, heat lamps, and plant life.

The patio is the perfect setting for a hot summer night wedding, BBQ dinner, and late night dancing. If that’s what you envisioned for your special event, you must see this space to truly appreciate its potential.
