The drive on country roads to Luna Lavender Farms is pure pleasure. Capay Valley, in Yolo County, is some of the prettiest country in this Nor Cal region. Take a smaller road that winds up into the hillside and you’ll reach this little slice of rural paradise.
The sweeping views across the valley from the Wedding Lawn & Garden are spectacular. And the entry to the Wedding Lawn is through a sweet rose covered archway. The built-in benches around the perimeter of the lawn are lovely, as well as useful.
The nearby one-acre (and expanding) lavender fields are wonderful for photo ops and perfect within the rows of the flowering plants. When the lavender is in bloom, generally May to July, the fragrance fills the air.
The Reception Barn is a short walk away. With a capacity of 150 the barn is climate controlled (a definite bonus for a barn). The “industrial rustic” interior is a blank palette for your design concept with silver corrugated metal walls, and doors and windows that open out to the views.
The Barn Portico offers a nice cocktail or gathering are and the adjacent lush lawn, perfect for lawn games. If you wish, the lawn is large enough for a tent structure and dining can be held al fresco, then perhaps have your dance party inside the barn. Another great photo op is the old grain bin. The grain bin is a fun piece of “garden art” and it is beautifully lit at night. In fact, many focal landscaping spots throughout the venue have nighttime lighting.
This well thought-out venue offers a bridal changing room with restroom and kitchenette, as well as a groom’s room, complete with pool table.
And bonus, owner Ken will transport the newlyweds and photographer in his Kubota RTV to the higher elevations of the property for incredible views. So much fun and beauty, and the sunsets are amazing! Another bonus, talk to owner Laurel about incorporating Lavender Lemonade (just add Vodka!), and/or lavender apothecary for wedding favors, and lavender confetti.
Onsite attendants assist with parking and transportation needs for needed guests. They also handle setting up of the tables and chairs based on your design concept.
RV or camping opportunities for a full weekend experience (extra fee) is a consideration. Additionally, there is a luxury three-stall restroom trailer on site. And the owners have future plans to build a few Farm Stay Cabins!
