Location, location, location! The Sacramento Convention Center is in the heart of downtown Sacramento and is walking distance to the State Capitol and many of Sacramento’s finest hotels and restaurants.  This venue can definitely hold large conventions or trade shows, but you will be surprised by the many options this versatile property affords, specifically the K Street Ballroom and the J Street Ballroom.  The K Street Ballroom  is the smaller of the two. It can be one large room seating 400-500 people, depending on the room configuration, or divided up to create smaller rooms.  If you like,  you can have a cocktail reception in one room and dinner in the other, or ceremony and then reception….you get the idea. The ballroom has lovely natural light streaming through the expansive windows on the south side balcony.  A grand stairway leads to a spacious foyer just outside the ballroom.

The J Street Ballroom also has the ability to be divided and configured into a multitude of size appropriate spaces. The contemporary feel of this space and neutral color carpeting lends itself well to any transformation. The  programmable lighting system gives many options for lighting levels and there is also a ceiling rigging  system that provides capabilities for large production events. A fantastic perk with SCC is early arrival (7:00 a.m.) to set up and/or decorate -for no additional fee!

Surrounding  both ballrooms are small meeting rooms that can be used as changing rooms, staging area and break out space; bands appreciate nearby Green Room arrangements.  A couple of outdoor patios are available in which I can envision a sophisticated lounge on a Sacramento summer evening.  Also, a charming, ivy covered  brick enclosure that would be fantastic for a smaller lunch, cocktail reception or for wedding photos.

Catering for all events in the Convention Center is skillfully executed by Classique Catering.  They can allow an approved, outside ethnic catering source for those looking for large parties with specific ethnic cuisine, and Classique will provide the service personnel and serviceware for a separate fee.
