While visiting the gold country the Vixens found another hidden gem of a property.  We fell in love with Squirrel Creek Ranch.  This venue has a magnificent old dairy barn built in 1898.  It can comfortably accommodate 150 guest for dining and dancing.  The venue rental also includes plenty of picnic table seating and hay bales are available as well!  The slats in the barn walls make for wonderful daytime lighting for a barn ceremony or just yards away is a gorgeous, expansive lawn surrounded by foliage, trees and bordered by a small creek (hence the name – Squirrel Creek).  There are many logistical options just steps away for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception…moving the guests to a few different spots so they really get a feel for the ranch.  Squirrel Creek Ranch is abundant, located on 80 acres, yet just 2 miles from downtown Grass Valley, so guest accommodations are easy to plan.

Also, included with the event rental is one of the two redwood cabins on the property, with the option to rent the second cabin.  The cabins were built in the 1940’s and have period furnishings, but both have been recently remodeled and are very homey.  With both cabins you will have a total of 5 bedrooms, perfect for the wedding party accommodations.  Since the ranch only allows one wedding per weekend, you can make this a nice weekend getaway, having rehearsal and dinner at the Ranch as well.  And the wedding party shouldn’t forget their swims suits.  Prior to the wedding they can take a refreshing dip in the pond, toodle around in the rowboat or play some lawn games ~ what fun!

This property has charm and is like no other.  It’s perfect for a vintage or rustic wedding theme, but really could work with any theme.  Its green and vibrant year round with wild flowers and blackberries growing around the grounds…and keep your eye out and you may even find the teepee. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are looking for an outdoor or barn property.  Happy Planning!

Our Vixen Vendor, Debbie of Lily Rose Photography joined us on the trip and we thank her for her fantastic images!
