Sugar bowl Ski Resort is the answer for those who love mountains, serenity, and adore the slopes.  It’s a wonderful venue to hold a wedding, family gathering or retreat.  During the summer season, the winter skiers are gone and it becomes your own personal mountain lodge.  It’s the perfect location to escape the summer heat, at 6,883 feet, the days are sunny, pleasantly warm, and the evenings cool down perfectly for an outdoor event.

There is a lovely ceremony lawn outside the Village Lodge, with the wonderful ski mountain and pine trees setting the scene for the day.  There is also an alternative location at Lake Mary for smaller events.  If you really want to make your event spectacular and unique, the option of renting the ski lift and having your cocktail hour on the sundeck at the top of Mount Disney is available.  How cool is that!  It involves a bit of a walk, but the views, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at this breathtaking vista are well worth the ride.  We recommend advising your guests to skip the stilettos and settle for a flat shoe… and bring a sweater for the high elevation coolness.

When you plan a Saturday evening event at the lodge you will be expected to rent the 27 sleeping rooms; which makes it the perfect scenario for a weekend wedding or retreat.  You can even have the lodge on Friday evening, with a reservation of 15 rooms.  Rehearsal dinner can be offered on or off premises and afterwards your wedding party and family can visit in front of a warm fire on comfy couches at the lodge.  Everyone will wake Saturday morning to the crisp mountain air, to enjoy a morning run, or yoga on the deck, or simply listen to the song birds… ahhhhh.

The dinner reception and dancing are held on the Village Lodge Deck, with views of Mount Disney and the majestic Sierras.  The site includes round tables, linens, and bare bulb market lights strung over the deck – it’s so festive!  The deck is lovely as-is with scattered planted pots of overflowing fresh flowers and greens, but you can also make it sensational with a bit of theatrical lighting to enhance the surroundings.  The staff and in-house coordinator are very nice and easy to work with, but also welcome the advice and additional assistance of professional coordinators, and the Venue Vixens are on their approved vendor list.   As a matter of fact, Vixen Kendra enjoyed planning the wedding of this great couple captured in the Gallery of photos by Sam of Red Sneaker Studio.

Your guests can celebrate the night away with dancing and drinking and then relax in their comfortable rooms, without the worry of driving home.  This is the perfect location for a destination wedding, not far from the Sacramento Valley, so local guests don’t incur huge travel costs, but far enough away to feel like a lovely vacation.
