So many of our favorite venues have begun as one thing to be re-imagined and transformed into something truly different. The Willow Ballroom & Event Center, is unlike any in the area. It’s located on Freeport Boulevard~River Road, about 15 miles south of downtown
Sacramento. The original building, 100 years ago, was of a cold storage warehouse and processing facility for Delta agriculture. The Willow Ballroom is approximately 11,000 square feet, making it one of the largest venues in the Sacramento area…. yet unlike any other. It feels rustic, yet very grand with sophisticated touches – not what you’d envision when hearing the word warehouse.
The exterior is urban, has beautiful brick, and the main entrance is a roll up door that with a little creativity, can make for a spectacular first impression. As you enter you will notice the high, open, wood ceiling with exposed beams; an eclectic collection of iron AND crystal chandeliers and sconces are artfully placed throughout. A few large windows have been added to allow for natural lighting and beauty. The walls are mostly exposed brick and the floors are polished cement ~ so trendy & fun.
The many trusses and cement sections left over from their original purpose afford opportunities to drape fabric or other décor elements to personalize the space for your particular style or to divide the space for multiple purposes. Beautiful fabric is offered directly through the Willow transforming the room into true romance. The draping options are endless! Also, if your headcount is smaller than the 500 the venue can accommodate, those fabric panels can create “rooms” within the room. And another thought ~ if you desire to hold the wedding ceremony within the Ballroom, consider installing the fabric curtain to create a separate ceremony room. Clever and so-so romantic!
The building has climate control, so it’s quite comfortable in the warmer months and also in the winter months. This means it’s a great option for a large off-season venue. Additionally, The Willow Ballroom offers complementary valet parking for the convenience of your guests. Photo ops are everywhere – even just behind the warehouse with the use of the Sacramento River as a backdrop.
If desiring to hold the wedding ceremony outdoors, there is an option to add on the river facing ceremony site. Such a cool spot with beautiful views. Guests can walk from this location to the reception held inside the Ballroom. This venue has it all!
