Young’s Vineyard, Shenandoah Valley, Amador County

Amador County… where life seems simple and beauty surrounds us.  I feel lucky to write about Young’s Vineyard.  I am very familiar with this property and have some fun ideas for using their spaces.  For starters, when you choose to book your event at Young’s, you get one of the best caterers.  Beth Sogaard Catering (Vixen Vendor) rules this area and continues to delight clients and guests (and planners) a like! She and her staff will help you execute a beautiful event.  With food and beverage and excellent wine covered, your planning can really begin.  Guests only need to take a country drive an hour from downtown Sacramento to be in the middle of bliss.

“Young’s Vineyard is nestled in the soft hills near the entrance of the Shenandoah Valley. With a year-round pond and stunning grounds, it is the ideal location for outdoor weddings.” Chef Beth

For a winery wedding, an inside Venue Vixen secret is the optional ceremony site at Young’s.  As you may know by now, I am big on using multiple spaces and keeping the element of surprise alive at each wedding.  This is tough to do with your ceremony and reception at the same property, in one spot. So think outside the box and book the patio overlooking the grassy slope and large oak tree.  You will be surprised at how many guests you can seat on this patio.  The magic number is 130, but this can even be fudged higher if needed. Then after-ceremony social in the secluded patio space above the ceremony site.  Adirondack chairs, wine barrels for cocktail tables, and a fun bar all work well here.  Now the best part is saved for the reception. Bring your guests through the grape vine covered arbors into the opening where the large grassy area and beautiful pond come into view.  Since this space is so big, it is best to define it with lighting or a tent.  Classic Party Rentals (Vixen Vendor) has been there many times and they have some great affordable options for creating the perfect look for this space.

Have fun with the venue!  The winery barn building is always in view as well as the surrounding vineyards. The area is open and the options are endless, but don’t let that intimidate you.  This venue has a secluded and private feel at night, has endless beauty in the way of garden-art, sculptures and flower beds  – and Young’s serves up a great bottle of wine (try the Estate Cabernet or the Roussanne if you love white)!  The whole area glows with candle light with touches of lights in the trees and surrounding the pond area. Watch out for the little frogs that hop through the grass at night at every wedding. The kids adore them and chasing the frogs keeps them busy, so everyone is happy!
