Vixen Vittles ~ City Winery Napa
We Vixens were lucky to be part of a VIP opening night for a dining experience at City Winery Napa. Last month, they held a soft opening when the kitchen and staff practice on food and service and diners give them written feedback. Dinner was delicious and the menu was quite large. We had a blast! That was a few weeks back… they are only to get better (and we’re not sure that’s possible!)Thank you Carrell and Linda (w/City Winery Napa) for arranging for the site tour and the fantastic dinner!
We love to try just about EVERYTHING on the menu… which is difficult at times, so we order several items and share. We started off with the Black Angus Beef Carpaccio with red pepper chimichurri, ricotta salata and tiny argula. We paired that with the Sheep’s Milk Ricotta a Bellwether Farms sheep’s milk ricotta, Marshall’s Farm honey and shaved almonds.
Naturally, we felt it necessary to try out a couple of salads (being healthy, ya know!) and selected the Kale Caesar – a black kale with creamy caesar dressing and a yummy parmesan crisp toast. Also the very nice Baby Bibb Lettuces with dried cherries, toasted walnuts, aged goat cheese, savory biscotti and buttermilk thyme dressing.
Next we moved into their delicious flatbread selections. We got very involved and forgot to take a picture of the Chef’s Daily Special which was the Chorizo & Salami with Burrata but here is our fav, the Wild and Farm Raised Roasted Mushroom Flatbread with goat cheese bechamel and sage.
We split a couple of the “Main Acts” (entrees) – Salmon with Spaghetti Squash and tomato tapanade and avacado puree, and also the Flat Iron Steak with cauliflower puree, baby carrots, roasted wild spring onion, roasted garlic in a wine reduction.
And you know we couldn’t miss out on their lovely dessert selections “Sweet Endings” – The Olive Oil Cake with macerated California strawberries and rasperry gelato was wonderful, AS WAS the decadent Chocolate Torte with rum roasted ming infused pineapple chunks.
