Vixen Vittles – Il Fornaio
Recently the Venue Vixens were contacted by an old friend in the industry, Vanessa Munoz of Il Fornaio Restaurant. She wanted to extend an invitation for 10 peeps to come enjoy an authentic Italian dining feast at the Capitol Mall location. YES, please!
The Vixens first toured Il Fornaio and got the lo-down on the various spaces and rental arrangements of the restaurant. Then our guests arrived and we gathered in the Sala Del Vino room, and sat at one long table (loved the gleaming wood). This is a lovely room with floor to ceiling windows and a wall of wine display; it’s a perfect room for a bridal luncheon, small rehearsal dinner, or for holding a dinner meeting.
With a personalized menu and baskets of delicious bread and dipping oil, we started our family style dinner. And btw, Il Fornaio means The Baker in Italian.
Insalata di Pere e Formaggi
Pear salad with arugula, radicchio, frisee, endive, gorgonzola, pecans and pomegranate dressing
Mezzelune Cacio d Pere
Half-moon ravioli filled w/grilled pears, mozzarella and Parmesan, topped with asparagus-crescenza cream sauce and sprinkled with toasted walnuts
Penna al Forno
Pasta tubes with meatballs and fresh mozzarella, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and finished in the pizza oven Petti di Polo alla Modenese
Roasted chicken breast rolled with Prosciutto di Parma and fontina cheese, topped with sage sauce, served with balsamic reduction, organic broccolini and mashed potatoes
Branzino alla Vastese
Roasted wild sea bass with oyster mushrooms, gaeta olives, tomatoes, garlic and rosemary
Dolci – Bongo Gelato
House-made profiteroles filled with vanilla ice cream, served over creme anglaise and topped with warm chocolate sauce
What a great evening! We were so full… but what an enjoyable culinary travel experience to Italy. Thank you to Vixen Vendor Allison Stahl for the great photos (when did you have time to eat?)! Other Vixen Vendors who joined us were Eva with A Perfect Pour, Kathy Newby with Classic Party Rentals, Jajuan Francis with Design with Florae, John Vu with Rocket Photobooths, and Bryan Greenwalt with Music and More Entertainment.
