Vixen Vittles – Ryde Hotel
On a lovely summer Sunday morning, the Vixens, along with Visiting Vixen Beth Baugher of True Love Photo, took a drive in the Cat Mobile, along the lazy Sacramento River, to Walnut Grove. Upon the invitation of the new owners of the historic Ryde Hotel, we enjoyed a venue tour and a fantastic Sunday Brunch – complete with flowing champagne!
For those who are familiar with the Ryde, you’ll recognize the giant water tower which is a landmark that leads many, by land or by river to this unique property.
The main dining room (which can also be a reception ballroom) was jammed packed with Sunday brunch goers. There were several individual buffets to visit – depending on which fare strikes your fancy… salad station with jumbo shrimp and spicy cocktail sauce, a live action station for omelet creation, sliced prime rib – or check out the plate Beth created.
Perfect crisp bacon, sausage, french toast and eggs Benedict. Yummmmm – o!
But wait… we’re not done, there’s more. The dessert buffet offered a variety of sweets, including Creme Brule and cookies. Oh yeah!
After wiping our mouths clean, we started our site tour – and a formal Featured Review will be posted soon. This historic property, very Art Deco in design and architecture, attracts a wide range of visitors… somebody arrived in style in this beautiful 1949 Buick, so naturally we had to strike a pose!
Do consider a visit to The Ryde Hotel for a Sunday Brunch, or cocktails with an evening dinner. The trip is worth the experience – and it’s only about 30 minutes from downtown Sacramento!
