Vixen Vittles ~ Sixteen16 Events by Mama Kim
To have an invitation to indulge in dinner prepared by Mama Kim (aka Kim Scott) and staff… well, how could the Vixens refuse? We well know the reputation of Kim with her catering company, and mobile food truck! After a grand tour of Sixteen16 Events, the newest venue in the Uptown Arts District on Del Paso Boulevard, just a couple of miles from downtown Sacramento, we sat down in the very relaxed restaurant space for a fine “home style” meal.
Kim and her business partner, musician Phillip Rayburn, set out to combine Kim’s New Southern cuisine with Phillip’s musical styles of Jazz, Blues and R&B. We can’t wait to go back on a weekend to hear Phil and the band perform.
So, let’s get down to describing the Vixen Vittles we enjoyed… to wet our whistle we were offered Sangria or Delta Peach Cooler
and then jumped into Phil’s Fried Chicken with Aged Cheddar Mash & Dinosaur Kale
The Louisiana Lamb Sliders with Whole-Grain Mustard Sauce, Goat Gouda, Arugula & Sweet Potato Chips – HEAVENLY!
Next up was Baby Back Ribs with House BBQ, Slaw, Jalapeno Corn Bread & Red Chili Honey Butter. ALL of us were crazy over the slaw (and Kim wouldn’t tell us the secret ingredient!)
We were chatting about fall dishes and next thing ya know, we were served a wonderful Squash Soup with Maple Cream – soooo good!
Look how lovely this dish is – Day Boat Scallops with Bourbon Beurre Blanc, Creole Relish & Sweet Potato Hay
BUT WAIT… there’s more. DESSERT! We shared, because we were stuffed! Keeping with that lovely Southern theme, we enjoyed Bananas Foster with Pecan Cookie
Vanilla Bean Flan with Farmers Market Fruit Salsa and Tuille Cookie
And also Chocolate Cake with Strawberry Sorbet, Chocolate & Berry Sauce
And to end our evening, we sang Happy Birthday to Vixen Laurie who celebrated her #!*@ Birthday. With Phil singing, how could you go wrong!!
Great evening, Fantastic venue – be sure to read here for the Featured Review on Sixteen Events16, and as the photos show, dee-licous food prepared by Mama Kim. As always, our great friend, Visiting Vixen Allison Stahl takes incredible pictures – thanks for joining us.
