Vixen Vittles – Boathouse on the Pier, Tahoe
Our Vixen Vittles post is on the delightful dining experience we enjoyed while spending the night at Beach Retreat & Lodge Tahoe. Located on South Shore, the resort’s main restaurant is called Boathouse on the Pier, appropriately named as it sits on Lake Tahoe’s longest pier. The restaurant space is perfect for a wedding rehearsal dinner (occupancy is about 40) or corporate luncheon… but if you just happen to plan a stay at Beach Retreat, do schedule lunch or dinner at the Boathouse. You won’t be disappointed! To read the Feature Review on Beach Retreat, click here.
Each one of us ordered our own appetizer and entree (yes, we passed around the dishes and took bites!) The artistry of the oil and balsamic on the plate was fantastic! Enrique, our fun, informative – and very patient waiter took excellent care of us (the wine flowed). We enjoyed a gorgeous jumbo shrimp cocktail, crab cakes (Chef Brian’s special recipe), pan seared scallops served on whole wheat pancakes with sauteed spinach, and the Captain’s Plate with so many shellfish items was a hoot to dig into. Photographer Mischa Purcell really enjoyed this dish
The entree items were even better, and just as beautiful to photograph! For the carnivore, there was the French Grilled Rib Eye Steak (yum), as well as the lovely Elephant Garlic Crusted Wild Salmon, Pasta Primavera – with grilled chicken, and the fantastic Andouille Stuffed Pork Chop. The Fresh Fish of the Day was received with great raves but the writer neglected to document what the fish was… but it looks delicious!
When you dine at Boathouse on the Pier, you could get very lucky (as many often do), and have a fantastic sunset. As we “waddled” away from the restaurant, we stopped to snap some photos. We are so grateful for this fun overnight experience – our gracious and generous hosts with Beach Retreat, Lori Cramer (in the green dress) is the big shot as Dir. of Catering Sales & Special Events. Diana (black top) is new to Beach Retreat, with tons of years of experience in the hospitality market. Fun time, ladies!
And the goofy dude above is our fantastic photographer for the weekend. Thank you Mischa, with Mischa Photography for capturing the yummi-licous food shots!
